Dress Code Policy

TOPS: Students are required to wear a standard polo shirt according to their grade-level color shown below:

6th grade- GOLD (dark yellow/ not pastel)

7th grade- GREEN

8th Grade- BLACK

BOTTOMS: Acceptable bottom pants: khaki, navy or black pants or skirts. (No shorts)

Bottom rules:

  • Must be worn at the waist
  • Skirts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee
  • Must not have rips or tears

FRIDAYS ONLY:

  • Official Burbank MS spirit shirts or college/univeristy shirts may be worn in place of a grade level polo shirt.
  • Spirit shirts will be available for sale by PTO.
  • Blue or black jeans (must not have rips/tears)

SHOES: Students must wear closed-toe shoes that are safe and appropriate for school activities.

Not allowed: Any footwear that does not provide full foot coverage and support. (No Crocs, slides, open-toe shoes, nor backless footware)

JACKETS: 

  • Jackets must have a full zipper and may have a hood; however, hoods must remain off while inside the school buildings.
  • Pullover hoodies are not allowed unless they are Burbank hoodies.
  • Jackets may not contain any type of language or design that is inappropriate.
  • No specific color is required.

BACKPACKS: Only clear or mesh backpacks are permitted.

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Leggings may be worn under skirts, but must not be worn as pants alone.
  • Sweatpants, pajama pants, and similar lounge wear are not permitted.
  • Hats, bonnets, and head coverings are not permitted inside the school buildings unless required for religious, medical, or school-approved purposes.
  • “Spirit days” will be scheduled throughout the school year, and students will be notified ahead of time to plan accordingly.
  • “Dress Down days” will also be scheduled and may require a fee through Burbank PTO for fundraising purposes.
    • Students must follow dress down day criteria in order to participate.
