Excel Academy

PROGRAM GOAL:

To prepare its students for success in high school and beyond

 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

  • To promote English literacy and develop writing abilities in its students.
  • To achieve competency in the sciences and social studies.
  • To develop their skills in mathematics
  • To provide enriching activities in art, music, and technology for its students.
  • To provide additional educational support to its students according to their needs.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Burbank Middle School EXCEL Academy is to create a community of empowered learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. Our students, faculty and staff are dedicated to the individual development of attitudes, skills, knowledge, and responsibility essential to successful achievement in school and society through actively involving parents and the community in supporting student learning and development.

 What We Do

Our EXCEL students have the opportunity to have math every day as well as specialty electives such as STAAR in Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and English which give them the extra support they may need to be successful. In addition, our master schedule allows our students to have at least two electives which they may choose from technology and performance and visual arts. We want to ensure that our EXCEL students have the benefits of a well-rounded education. Some of the electives available to our EXCEL students are:

  • Karate 
  • Band
  • Art
  • Media Team
  • Technology Applications
  • COED PE
  • Dance
  • Piano 
  • Multicultural Studies
  • Principles of Informational Technology 

 Our students may also participate in extracurricular activities such as: 

  • Cheerleading
  • UIL Sports- Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.
  • Karate Demo Team
  • Las Aguilas Ballet Folklórico
  • Concert Band
  • Art Club 
  • Dance Club
